Abstract

|
A case with acquired lumbar hernia in 63 year old woman with the complaints of intermittent colicky abdominal pain and distension was treated surgically by by the modified Hancook operation at Paik Foundation Hospital. Under the diagnosis of intestinal obstruction laparotomy was performed. On operation we found the descending colon impacted partially into the upper lumbar triangular defect and the proximal portion of the impacted colon was dilated. After reduction of the impacted colon and repair of the hernia by the modified Hancook operation, she is quite well now without any complication or recurrence for 18 months after operation.
